rabies vaccine
Post-exposure hydrophobia shot
A rabies vaccine is a preparation that produces immunity against rabies, a viral disease transmitted through animal bites that is almost always fatal once symptoms appear.
The vaccine can be given preventively to those at high risk—veterinarians, wildlife workers—or as post-exposure treatment after a suspected rabid animal bite: She started the rabies vaccine series the same day she was bitten.
