Denying necessary treatment
Medical neglect is the failure to provide necessary healthcare for someone in your care, whether by refusing treatment, ignoring symptoms, or failing to follow through on medical recommendations.
It most often applies to children or dependent adults: The parents were charged with medical neglect after refusing to treat their son's diabetes.
The term appears in child welfare and elder care contexts, where it can constitute a form of abuse.
