Botox is the trademark for a preparation of botulinum toxin type A, manufactured by Allergan.
It was the first such product approved for cosmetic use and remains the dominant brand, though the name now functions generically for similar treatments: Is that Botox or one of the competitors? (Lowercase botox refers to the procedure generally.)
