push notifications
Automatic phone alerts
Push notifications are alerts sent from apps or websites directly to a device's screen, appearing even when the app isn't open.
They notify users of messages, updates, reminders, or promotional content: I turned off push notifications because my phone was buzzing constantly.
The "push" distinguishes them from information users actively pull by checking an app themselves.
