proxy votes
Ballots cast remotely
Proxy votes are votes cast by one person on behalf of another who is absent or unable to vote directly.
Common in shareholder meetings, where investors authorize someone else to vote their shares: She submitted her proxy votes before the annual meeting.
Also used in legislative bodies and organizations when members cannot attend.
The practice allows participation without physical presence.
