prophethood

Divine messenger status

Prophethood is the state or condition of being a prophet—one who speaks divine messages or foretells the future.

The term appears most often in religious contexts, particularly Islamic theology, where it describes the office and mission of prophets from Adam through Muhammad: The prophethood of Moses is recognized in all three Abrahamic faiths.

Also spelled prophetship.
