printed circuit board

Component mounting platform

A printed circuit board, or PCB, is a flat board made of insulating material with conductive pathways etched or printed onto its surface, used to mechanically support and electrically connect electronic components.

The components—chips, resistors, capacitors—are soldered to the board rather than connected by individual wires, making circuits compact and reproducible.

PCBs are found in virtually all electronic devices, from phones to appliances to computers.
