press photo
Journalist's captured image
A press photo is a photograph taken or distributed for use in news media—newspapers, magazines, wire services, online publications.
The term emphasizes the image's journalistic purpose rather than artistic intent: The press photo showed the senator leaving the courthouse.
Press photos are typically candid shots of newsworthy events or public figures, often with specific formatting and caption requirements for publication.
