preloading

Loading before needed

Preloading is loading something in advance—preparing resources before they're needed.

In computing, preloading fetches data or assets so they're ready when called: The browser preloads images for faster page rendering.

In drinking culture, preloading (or pregaming) means consuming alcohol before arriving at a bar or event, usually to save money or arrive already buzzed.
