preeminency

State of dominance

Preeminency is the state of being preeminent—surpassing all others in excellence, importance, or achievement.

The word is an older variant of preeminence, now rarely used: The preeminency of British naval power lasted centuries.

Both forms describe supreme rank or distinction in a field.
