prechamber

Room before another

A prechamber is a small auxiliary chamber connected to a larger one, typically in an engine where fuel and air mix before igniting in the main combustion chamber.

Prechamber designs improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions by allowing more controlled combustion: prechamber diesel engines, prechamber ignition systems.
