pratityasamutpada

Pratityasamutpada is the Buddhist doctrine of dependent origination—the principle that all phenomena arise in dependence on causes and conditions, nothing existing independently or permanently.

Often illustrated through the twelve links connecting ignorance to suffering, it explains how craving and delusion perpetuate the cycle of rebirth.

Understanding pratityasamutpada is central to liberation from samsara.
