powder-coat

Electrostatic paint process

Powder-coat is to apply a dry powder finish to a surface, typically metal, using electrostatic charge and heat curing.

The process creates a durable, chip-resistant coating thicker than conventional paint: The bike frame was powder-coated matte black.

As a noun, powder coat refers to the finish itself or the material used.
