popup blocker

Intrusion prevention tool

A popup blocker is software or a browser feature that prevents websites from automatically opening new windows.

Popups were once a plague of internet advertising—windows spawning endlessly with ads or scams.

Modern browsers include popup blockers by default, though legitimate sites sometimes require users to disable them: Turn off your popup blocker to complete checkout.
