pool drain
Water removal point
A pool drain is the outlet at the bottom or side of a swimming pool that draws water into the filtration system.
Pool drains create suction that can be dangerous—powerful enough to trap swimmers against the grate, leading to drowning or evisceration injuries.
Safety regulations now require anti-entrapment covers and multiple drains to reduce suction force.
