Polyurethanes are synthetic polymers used in foams, coatings, adhesives, and flexible materials.
The chemistry allows for enormous variation—from the soft foam in mattresses and cushions to rigid insulation panels to stretchy spandex fibers.
The seats were upholstered in polyurethane foam.
The singular polyurethane often appears as an adjective: polyurethane finish, polyurethane sealant.
