polar plunge
Icy water dip
A polar plunge is a deliberate jump or dive into frigid water, typically undertaken as a charity fundraiser, New Year's tradition, or personal challenge.
Participants wade or plunge into icy lakes, rivers, or ocean water during winter months, often in costumes and surrounded by cheering spectators.
We did the polar plunge on New Year's Day to raise money for Special Olympics.
The practice appeals to thrill-seekers and those looking to test their tolerance for extreme cold.
