plane spotter
Aviation enthusiast observer
A plane spotter is someone who watches aircraft as a hobby, typically noting details like model, airline, and registration number.
Plane spotters often gather near airports with binoculars and cameras, logging sightings and photographing aircraft: There were a dozen plane spotters lined up along the runway fence.
The hobby is sometimes called planespotting or aviation spotting.
