pit toilets
Primitive outdoor restrooms
Pit toilets are simple latrines consisting of a hole in the ground, often covered by a seat or platform, used where plumbing isn't available.
Common at campgrounds, rural areas, and developing regions: The trailhead had pit toilets but no running water.
Also called pit latrines.
They range from crude holes to well-maintained vault toilets with concrete structures.
