pig valve
Porcine cardiac implant
A pig valve is a heart valve transplanted from a pig into a human patient, used to replace a diseased or damaged valve.
These bioprosthetic valves are prized because pig heart anatomy closely resembles human anatomy.
Unlike mechanical valves, pig valves don't require lifelong blood thinners, though they typically wear out after 10-20 years: My grandfather got a pig valve after his second heart attack.
