pig tail
Braided side strand
A pig tail is the curly tail of a pig, or something resembling it—a short, twisted or coiled shape.
In hairstyling, pigtails (usually plural, often one word) are sections of hair gathered and tied to hang down, typically one on each side of the head: She wore her hair in pigtails.
The term also applies to short, flexible electrical connectors or coiled wires.
