pig heart
Porcine cardiac muscle
A pig heart is the heart of a pig, anatomically similar to a human heart.
This similarity makes pig hearts valuable in medical research and, increasingly, in xenotransplantation—the transplanting of animal organs into humans: Surgeons successfully implanted a pig heart into the patient.
Pig heart valves have long been used to replace damaged human valves.
