phone addiction
Compulsive device checking
Phone addiction is the compulsive need to check, scroll, or interact with one's smartphone despite negative consequences.
The term borrows from clinical addiction language but usually describes habit rather than medical condition: I deleted Instagram to break my phone addiction.
Screen time limits and grayscale modes are common remedies.
Also called smartphone addiction.
