peghead

Guitar neck top

Peghead is the part of a stringed instrument where the tuning pegs are mounted—the carved or shaped top of the neck on guitars, banjos, violins, and similar instruments.

Also called the headstock.

The design often identifies the instrument's maker: You can spot a Fender by its distinctive peghead.
