party rule
Single-group political control
Party rule is governance by a single political party that dominates or monopolizes state power, typically without meaningful electoral competition.
The term often describes one-party states or systems where opposition is suppressed or marginalized: Cuba has been under communist party rule since 1959.
It can also refer more neutrally to the period when a particular party holds power: Republican party rule in the state legislature lasted two decades.
