parental leave
New-child work break
Parental leave is time off from work granted to parents following the birth or adoption of a child.
It may be paid or unpaid, and policies vary widely by country and employer.
Maternity leave and paternity leave are the gender-specific forms, though parental leave increasingly applies to any parent regardless of gender: She negotiated six months of parental leave before accepting the job.
