pantomiming

Acting without words

Pantomiming is acting out something through gesture and movement without speaking—the silent communication of mime.

Someone pantomimes a phone call by holding their hand to their ear, or pantomimes drinking by tilting an imaginary cup.

The word applies both to theatrical mime performance and everyday silent gesturing: She was pantomiming something through the window, but I couldn't make it out.
