paddle shifter
Manual gear control
A paddle shifter is a lever mounted behind a steering wheel that allows drivers to change gears manually without using a traditional gear stick.
Typically appearing in pairs—one for upshifting, one for downshifting—paddle shifters give drivers of automatic or semi-automatic transmissions more control over gear selection: I dropped two gears with the paddle shifter before the turn.
