overbreeding
Excessive animal reproduction
Overbreeding is breeding animals or plants excessively, beyond what's sustainable or healthy.
In animal husbandry, it often refers to producing too many offspring without regard for genetic diversity, health problems, or finding homes: Puppy mills are notorious for overbreeding.
The term also describes breeding that emphasizes traits to unhealthy extremes: Overbreeding has left bulldogs unable to breathe properly.
