Living openly, visibly
Outness is the state of being openly gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender—the degree to which someone has disclosed their sexual orientation or gender identity.
It exists on a spectrum: a person might have high outness at work but low outness with family.
Her outness made her a visible advocate for LGBTQ rights.
The term emerged from the metaphor of "coming out of the closet."
