out-of-stater
Visitor from elsewhere
An out-of-stater is someone from a different state than the one being discussed—a visitor, newcomer, or outsider: The locals resent out-of-staters buying up lakefront property.
The term often carries mild territorial suspicion, implying the person doesn't understand local ways or doesn't belong.
Common in discussions of tourism, real estate, and college tuition rates.
