octane number
Gasoline quality measure
Octane number is a measure of a fuel's resistance to premature ignition in an engine.
Higher octane fuels burn more controllably, preventing the knocking or pinging that damages engines.
Regular gasoline typically has an octane rating of 87, while premium grades range from 91 to 93.
