An obstacle course is a path or route with physical barriers that must be climbed over, crawled under, or otherwise navigated.
Military training uses them to build strength and agility; recreational versions appear at fitness events and playgrounds.
Figuratively, any process full of difficulties: Getting the permit approved was an obstacle course of paperwork and delays.
