nought
Nothing at all
Nought is the number zero, used primarily in British English: The score stood at two-nought.
It also means nothing at all: All their efforts came to nought.
The phrase noughts and crosses is the British name for tic-tac-toe.
American English typically uses naught for the "nothing" sense and zero for the numeral.
