not equal sign

Indicates mathematical difference

The not equal sign (≠) is a mathematical symbol indicating that two values are different from each other.

It consists of an equals sign with a diagonal line through it: If x ≠ y, then the values are not the same.

In programming, inequality is often represented as != or <> instead.
