nosebands
Horse face straps
Nosebands are straps that pass over a horse's nose as part of a bridle.
The noseband helps keep the horse's mouth closed and the bit properly positioned.
Different styles—cavesson, flash, figure-eight—provide varying degrees of control: The trainer switched to a tighter noseband to discourage the horse from opening its mouth.
