harness racing
Sulky-pulled speed contests
Harness racing is a form of horse racing in which horses pull a two-wheeled cart called a sulky, with the driver seated behind.
Unlike thoroughbred racing, horses must maintain a specific gait—either trotting or pacing—rather than galloping.
Breaking gait results in penalties.
The county fair featured harness racing on Saturday nights.
