Bitless horse headgear
Hackamores are bitless bridles used to control horses through pressure on the nose and chin rather than the mouth.
The plural of hackamore, these devices are favored for young horses still being trained or for horses with mouth sensitivity: She preferred hackamores for trail riding.
The word comes from Spanish jáquima.
