Coastal winter storms
Northeasters are storms that blow in from the northeast, particularly the powerful coastal storms that batter the Atlantic seaboard of North America.
These systems bring heavy rain or snow, strong winds, and dangerous surf: Schools closed as the northeaster dumped two feet of snow.
Often shortened to nor'easters.
