no-shows
Booked but absent
No-shows are people who fail to appear for something they committed to—a reservation, appointment, flight, or event.
Restaurants and airlines overbook to compensate for expected no-shows.
The term also works as a count noun for each instance: We had three no-shows at the meeting.
As a modifier: no-show rates, no-show policy.
