double booking
Two appointments overlap
Double booking is scheduling two conflicting commitments for the same time.
It can be accidental—a calendar mix-up—or deliberate, as when airlines sell more seats than exist, expecting some passengers won't show.
I double-booked myself and had to cancel dinner.
