nephrosis

Kidney tissue degeneration

Nephrosis is kidney disease, specifically a degenerative condition of the kidneys that doesn't involve inflammation.

The term often refers to nephrotic syndrome, where damaged kidneys leak excessive protein into the urine, causing swelling and other complications: The child was diagnosed with nephrosis after routine blood work showed abnormal protein levels.
