neck rings

Circular neck adornments

Neck rings are metal bands worn around the neck, typically stacked in series to create the appearance of an elongated neck.

They're associated with certain ethnic groups, particularly the Kayan people of Myanmar and Thailand, where women traditionally wear brass coils from childhood.

The rings don't actually lengthen the neck but push down the collarbone and ribs.

In other contexts, neck rings may be simple jewelry or, historically, symbols of status or bondage.
