naval fleets
Maritime military formations
Naval fleets are organized groups of warships operating under unified command, typically belonging to a nation's navy.
A fleet may be assigned to a particular ocean or region, as in the Pacific Fleet, or assembled for a specific military operation.
The term extends beyond strictly military contexts to describe any large group of ships or vehicles operating together: a fishing fleet, a fleet of delivery trucks.
Fleet strength has historically been a measure of national power and maritime dominance.
