Wheel spray shields
Mudguards are curved shields mounted over wheels to block mud, water, and debris from spraying upward.
On bicycles, they arch over the tires; on cars and trucks, they're part of the wheel well or fender assembly.
Also called fenders (especially in American English) or splash guards: I need to replace the mudguards on my bike before the rainy season.
