mouldiness
Damp decay smell
Mouldiness is the state of being covered with mould—the fuzzy fungal growth that appears on damp or decaying organic matter.
The word describes both the physical presence of mould and the musty quality it produces: the mouldiness of the basement, a mouldiness in the air.
