morning zoo

Wacky breakfast broadcast

A morning zoo is a radio format featuring multiple hosts, comedy bits, listener call-ins, celebrity interviews, and general chaos during the morning commute hours.

The "zoo" suggests the lively, unpredictable atmosphere—sound effects, pranks, running gags, and banter between co-hosts competing for attention.

I grew up listening to the morning zoo on my drive to school.

The format dominated American radio from the 1980s through the 2000s.
