monoplex
One-screen movie theater
A monoplex is a movie theater with only one screen, as opposed to a multiplex with several.
The term emerged as multiplexes became standard, creating a need to name what theaters had always been: The old downtown monoplex still shows one film at a time.
The word can also describe any single-unit facility in contrast to a multi-unit complex.
