mob cap
Ruffled indoor bonnet
A mob cap is a soft, round cloth cap with a frilled or ruffled edge, worn by women primarily in the 18th and early 19th centuries.
It gathered loosely around the head and was everyday indoor wear, later becoming part of domestic servant uniforms.
Today mob caps appear mainly in period costumes and as disposable hair coverings in food service or medical settings.
