misroute
Divert from destination
To misroute is to send something along the wrong path or to an incorrect destination.
Packages get misrouted by shipping companies, calls get misrouted to wrong departments, and data gets misrouted across networks.
The airline misrouted our luggage to Denver.
The error implies misdirection rather than loss—the thing still goes somewhere, just not where intended.
